Bopp Films
What is BOPP Film?
BOPP or Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene films are plastic films created by stretching PP film in both transverse and longitudinal directions. This film offers transparency of ≥ 90%, tensile strength of up to 180 MPa, and high dimensional stability. Its high resistance to moisture and printability has led to widespread use in food packaging, labels, and high-value-added products.

Types of BOPP film
Label BOPP
In this film, a plasma layer is created on the film’s surface using (Corona Treatment) technology, which can effectively capture particles of printing materials. This film is suitable for use on plastic/glass bottles in a wrap-around or in-mold manner, without loss of adhesion.
Metallized BOPP
For the production of this film, in addition to the product itself, a layer usually made of aluminum is applied to the packaging film, which offers very high resistance to oxygen and water vapor. It is an ideal choice for packaging chocolate, coffee, tea, and light-sensitive products as it prevents 90-99% of light from passing through.
Lamination BOPP
A clear film used for laminating other films or cards. With a one or two-sided coating of polyolefin or EVA, it enhances scratch resistance and printability. Typical thicknesses range from 15 to 25 µm.
Features of BOPP film
Very High Transparency
The transparency of this product is ≥ 90% with a surface gloss of ≥ 85–260%, which, depending on the type of film, yields a uniform and stretched structure in both directions (biaxial), resulting in a smooth and even surface that allows light to pass through without scattering.
Resistance to Moisture and Oil Penetration
The water vapor permeability rate is 0.7–2 g/m² Overall, polypropylene has a semi-crystalline structure that compresses molecules and reduces the permeation space for liquids and gases, which is crucial for preserving food and sensitive items like chocolate or coffee.
Excellent Printability and Ink Adhesion.
By adding polar groups such as (C=O) and (O–C–O) to the surface, it increases surface energy and roughness, resulting in the ink adhering well to the film, reducing dot gain, and producing high-quality professional prints.
Abrasion and Scratch Resistance
BOPP film has a high hardness due to its coherent molecular structure, which ensures that even during fast production processes, printing, or transportation, the surface remains undamaged and the packaging remains clean and shiny.

Applications of BOPP Film
Food and Snack Packaging
BOPP film is transparent and resistant to moisture; it is commonly used for packaging chips, candies, chocolates, and vegetables to maintain the freshness and appearance of the product.
Labels and Labeling
It is used to produce glossy labels on bottles, cans, and consumer packaging; its high print quality and clarity ensure that labels accurately display printing dates and information under various conditions.
Final Lamination of Printed Packaging
It is applied to cards, brochures, or printed packaging to provide a glossy or matte finish; it also has high resistance to abrasion and dust.
Adhesive Tape and Product Protection
It is used in the production of packaging tape, and its high strength makes it suitable for applications such as protective tape during transportation without tearing.
